I think the companies are trying to establish brand loyalty from the new majority demographic - PoCs. If they have a history of bagging out whitey (ie: The ones that built them up), they think it will gain them some favor with the new largest consumer bases that the powers that be want to redistribute European wealth to.
Easy solution: Don't be loyal to that which is not loyal to you.
