SI is not a meme, however the goals people set are usually retarded. One should strive towards bettering at something in life, whether that's money, relationships, fitness, knowledge, artistry/mastery, or overall experience.
It is what gives life meaning and fulfilment, and ensures you do not remain stagnant or placated with your current setting. Modern SI has been soiled with consumerism and pointless communities which tend to re-adjust people's drive to be one of vanity rather than subsistence. This leads people to think they are improving for some THING or some ONE rather than for themselves. Sad.
