At that point, there were definitely some colours and shapes ebbing and flowing behind him but it wasn't too strong. He then reached out towards me - I feel towards is the wrong word as it's a similar sensation on other psychs where it feels like some 'inner' me pointing to me in some internal way but it's hard to describe - and then his hand started swirling around and around, each new layer of the swirl was a new, striking colour, reaching deeper and deeper into/toward me, growing and taking over my field of vision to the point it covered his face, until it almost felt like my brain was overloaded with visual stimuli and then boom - the standard DMT trip started.
A part of me thinks it's probably just chemicals interacting with our deeply subconscious and 'base' level pattern recognition, developed so long ago in time that we mostly share the same across the world. Isn't it strange how religions which never interacted, separated by oceans, had the same spiritual imagery 1000s of years ago? It seemed spiritual to me when I took DMT until I tried varying levels of other psychs and saw what I deemed to be pattern recognition being slowly altered - seeing faces/eyes in everything, and the exact same spiritual symbolism from religions 1000s of years ago.
