pyromancies don't rely on faith or intelligence like they do in the other games so basically i put my vitality up to 15 and started dumping the rest of my souls into dex for casting speed plus that's what my sword scales with
also you don't need titanite to upgrade the pyromancy flame, just a lot of souls
