Well yes, if you don't love yourself you can't love others. Think about it. In order to give something away you must first posess an excess of that something. That being said, is narcissism really self-love, or is it just a form of coping?
People are afraid to own up to their own mistakes and so they make others feel guilty. "Others" being people who have low self-esteem.
