The great thing about using the Psalms is you don't need any in depth occult knowledge. You just need a strong faith in God and be sincerely asking for his protection. I personally believe Psalm 23 is one of the most powerful ones, as fear opens doors to demons, having God take away the fear of evil gives you great power, the prayer also describes walking through the valley of the shadow of death and fearing no evil because HE IS WITH YOU. That protection from God is powerful. Use Psalm 23 often.
