>>12134517depends what you're trying to do i guess. stuff like clarinet/saxophone and the variants of each are super similar and pretty much anyone would be able to pick up one with an afternoon of fiddling if they know the other, though obviously they'd take a good bit of practice to get really good. for any random two instruments a lot of general concepts carry over and you're just learning the physicality of playing it which can be rough but only takes a few days to reach basic competence.
that being said i only jumped around so much because school band music was piss easy in general and jumping around kept things interesting. i don't think i could've gone to the competitive stuff on anything other than bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet (because nobody plays it except retards), and maybe bari sax (similar reason) or regular clarinet if i tried really really hard.
yeah bass clarinet is funny lookin. it was my favorite of everything i ever played by a mile. it's in the right range where it's lowest notes are really deep and cool but most notes are pretty clear so solos don't sound like unintelligible rumbling and are worth playing. a chad's instrument to be sure
yeah there are many reasons people hate high school and that's one of them i'd say
sleep tight
