>>11065206One reason shops dont touch cracked transmission cases or engine blocks is they used to make some out of magnesium. And they couldnt tell the aluminum apart from magnesium. So you weld aluminium to magnesium and it looks good, but falls apart after you install it. Or you get a magnesium fire and burn down the shop. Anyways they have enough business to just change parts. For every customer that wants a cracked gearbox welded up, there is another who will purchase a new gearbox with the retail markup and labor.
