because other than a first play of a new album i only ever use one playlist, so the reality of it is that i end up listening to songs that i've heard literally hundreds of times as much as recent releases which can make everything start to feel sort of "stale." it's not that i don't ever want to listen to older stuff, just that there should probably be a distinction between stuff i've heard a billion times and stuff i haven't
