You usually don't, no. It's simply an optional thing for students to partake in, if they want extra lessons. Depending on the school you're going to, might not even be a thing.
I'm personally having to go because they made the schedule really dumb. The classes are from Thursday to Monday. I've no idea why it's like that. I've complained about it a lot.
And, yeah, you're pretty much an outcast here if you're not Muslim. Not one myself.
The resting time, it's actually not anything different for us, simply days off on weekends.
