>>14262563depends on the recipe i guess, if it's something heavily spiced like a curry or chilli i can see it disappearing i suppose. but i've definitely had occasions when i've made soup and something was bugging me about it all week until i remembered i forgot to add bay leaf. i can also easily identify the flavor of bay leaf itself since we sometimes use it on roasts or in cold cuts and you can tell which parts of the meat have been close to the bay leaf.
