>>21901530sounds unlikely. while historically bad, this is on par with hurricane katrina, which isn't exactly a comforting thought considering what happened soon after, but should put it into perspective. even if you consider the fires a "black swan," los angeles is a known disaster risk, earthquakes are frequent and tsunami risk, it's not like an event of this magnitude wasn't built into their models. old warren reportedly has enough cash to fix this problem, or at least gobble up anybody that stumbles, assuming it comes in ~130 billion which are the numbers i've seen kicked around. let's just hope they get things under control soon.
