>>14259539For self-defense? MMA. Boxing is fine but if you do MMA you can learn other choice bits too. Your profile is that you want to learn how to fight while;
1. Mostly/entirely using your hands
2. Staying standing and mobile as long as humanly possible
3. Being aware of and capable of deflecting take-down attempts
Reasons for this: self-defense situations are responses to ambushes. Ambushes are the most effective form of warfare. Your attacker gets to plan, you may not know you're in a fight until too late. So you want a trained fighting style that involves few risks (like taking your feet off the ground or going to the ground) and helps prevent you from getting sucker-punched by one of your opponent's friends while you're focusing on your opponent. Grapples and strikes are both good as long as you can stay standing, stay mobile, and don't have to take your feet off the ground.
>>14259591We're amazed at you. 100% of fights start standing up and all you have to do is browse a /pol/ reckt thread to see tons of fights that were already over before the ground was reached. You seem like you got teleported here from 1995 after watching a UFC match.
