I think he realized he fucked up by beating up TJ and was trying to come up with something in the spot to make it up for him. Makes you wonder what would have happened if he has said yes to bring her up. I also wonder if she got mad that Sam spoiled their plan with her. To this day she still hasn’t talked about what she was supposed to do with production.
