i got some of my big questions answered though like you don't need to apply more than a semester ahead of time, prices get as low as just barely above regular tuition depending if you're trying to go as cheap as possible, language proficiency level guidelines do line up with the course names (ie upon completing the "intermediate japanese" courses you will have intermediate proficiency), and you should be competent enough to take a class fully in your target language after 4 semesters
