Its extremely shortsighted for him to only consider the effects of this in the scope of himself and his relationship. This sets a bad example for other young females as they will think that doing this is okay and whatnot. He also claims that he doesnt want people to look up to him when his entire career is built on that. He kinda messed up making the right call and let his ego tell him he was right despite all the hate, albeit irrational.
