You should be great because YOU want to be great for YOU. To attach trite bullshit to an otherwise logical ideology is to create a handle for it to be dragged down. The successes in science and engineering that fueled western industrialization largely came from independent researchers doing shit they thought was interesting, not people working for the glory of their nation, nor to support the poor and less fortunate. The predicament we have now is what happens when everyone and anyone gets a slice of that success and is told they helped out just by being a bystander. If you tell people all they have to do is clean their room and follow some rules to be in the club, you're just puffing up morons who still needed to be told what to do in the first place.
