The problem with the laptop is that it's flat, and the way its laid out is bad for heat dissipation, but if you put all the laptop components in a little cube (like the Mac Mini, probably the first of this category of computer) -- heat dissipation isn't as bad and you can get more juice out of the components plus you just hook them up to a real screen and mouse and keyboard.
I like this category of computers a lot, you can get one for like $200-300 and it'll play any game from before 2018 and run pretty damn fast for the price.
