>>15721361I had a small group of best frens from elementary school all the way through college and beyond. First one moved to Arizona chasing jobs that never worked out, then to Texas, Florida, etc. He bounces around a lot and hasn't come home since his mom died.
Next one moved to Arizona a few years ago after his parents went there. Couldn't afford New York housing costs anymore. He's the one I've always been closest to, so him leaving really hurt. But he's at least got a decent job and his parents got him set up in a house of his own, so at least he's put down roots and is trying to find a wife now (we're all 32+).
The girl of our frens—unironically my oldest fren; she lived next door to me since we were both 5 and we've been buds ever since—is the only one of the core group who's still here. She got married to the man I set her up with in college. Popped out two kids, with a third (and, so far, fourth; twin pregnancies are risky, as we sadly learned during her second time around) on the way. I'm the godfather of her firstborn! I hang out with them at least once a month.
Then there's just me and my five border collies, living on a half-acre house and paying the bills for myself and my parents, who are flat fucking broke. In Jew York, which is fucking difficult.
I wish I drank or smoked weed sometimes, just to take the fucking edge off the amount of sadness I feel from being lonely. Dogs help, fren. Get a dog.
