In the beginning, the heavenly host created his wife from water. There was a fire of love and merciful light, which begot pure light and the first principal angels which made love to give other angels, beings of pure light. They were in the beginning and prayed endlessly. A song was sang in their assembly and then the drumming of thunder. which begot the first corporeal beings. It was thrown down from heaven like the low trembling of thunder and separated the waters from above from the water beneath, and struck the clay of the earth, giving birth to the first beings. Now the heavenly host, seeing this was elated with joy, and took great pleasing to the World, inasmuch it stirred discontent and consternation among his children, so an angel of dismay consorted many angels to lead a mutiny in a war against the heavenly host. So a war occurred south of heaven, and fell from it numerous angels. The blood ran into the waters below, the holy host, being most merciful, spared these angels at the behest of his love, for they were the joy of his creation. Now seeing this, an angel of wicked pride consorted with the angels, and convinced them of the Word and taught them many dark arts of the blood soaked water below, so as to have power over them. The carnality of their lustings stirred hatred among the heavenly host as it splashed blood into the beauty of his eye, which begot a son to forewarn them of their dark arts in the martyrdom of children, their vexing of fellow men, their being of blind guides.
