I was a trophy hunter back in the day. Did a bunch of expedition and exploratory type of hunts. Never shot a lot of shit though. The reality is that most designated hunting areas have had active conservation and been cultivated specifically for it with improved water acess, predator control, salt licks etc. Especially in French colonized countries. Not just a patch of bushes with a couple critters in it. Real open hunting areas have lower trophy quality. In some places where culls/market hunting have gone on in centuries past, there is no trophy quality at all. There only the undesirable survive.
For a while there, if I was not on assignment, I was in the bush honing my skills and learning about the various indigenous peoples. Got pretty hard too. Easy to put your blinders on and just look straight toward the completion of your task. Shooting a chiwawa sized animal or hunting dangerous corruption. Still luv it!!!
