My grandfather was Albanian and a shepherd in his youth. He used to tell me wolf stories.
He lost his favorite dog, an all white illyrian shepherd named Balo, to a pack of wolves once. They only found his head severed from his body by the wolves and 4 dead wolves around him. He would still have tears in his eyes when telling that story 50+ years after it happened.
If I ever own a farmhouse some day I'll get a few of those dogs.
