>>1688307>on a three day cross-country ski march without tents>freezing my hands off>get rid of some snow and set up small tarp shelter under pine trees to stay the night>sleeping outside under a fucking tarp in nothing but a sleeping bag, surprisingly comfy inside there though>had to be naked for body heat to warm it up>all my clothes bunched up at the feet end>chat for half an hour with two other guys about Stargate>all three inside the sleeping bags not even seeing each other>it'd be too dark anyway since this is Finland>fall asleep>wake up at 5 am to continue with the march>tarp has fallen off and all the snow from the pine trees trees has fallen on top of us (three people)>dig myself out in freezing cold in my underwear and dress myself up in -25 celsius just to pack up and continue marching>completely hating every moment of itI used this as an example of why I hate conscription at the time, but after the whole ordeal was over I found myself thinking fondly of all this shit and was appreciative that I went through it.
>>1688331Yes. Only thing we didn't need to carry was firewood, those large canisters of drinking water we'd resupply from and some training specific heavy military gear. Those were dropped off at campsite with a truck.
Our tents were these small ones on every march we went to. We only used the bigger ones when we went on shooting camps where we needed to fire live rounds... just for the sake of our mentality.
