The international community watched with shock but not surprise today as the Hong Kong flag was raised over the last autonomous Prussian communities in Konigsberg. Prussian forces were evacuated from the capital to neighbouring Sweden, but were unable to prevent a landing by pursuing Hong Kong marines and were forced to surrender after only a brief campaign.
With the defeat of the only organised European resistance in the East, human rights organisations fear for conditions within the Hong Kong-controlled territories. The Hong Kong government has so far not commented on whether the existing protections for natives within its borders will be extended to civilians within the former Prussian territories.
