A rock will form naturally over the years regardless of human input. But paint will never jump onto a canvas on its own, nor will an AI start coloring pixels without some kind of human input. In this way the AI is much the same kind of tool as a brush, a chistel, or photoshop. You could argue about intent and audience reception, but those same arguments could be applied to half of the MoMA.
