With that many people, there's no question that there will be a ton of software engineers. The indians you see on the streets in Japan littering and getting into fights with the police aren't software engineers.
The poop memes and the "good morning saars" don't apply this time, they look more like picrelated. Indian society is highly stratified and caste dependant even today. Even if they're half as competent as western pointdexters, there's millions more of them, but they're not dumb and many are highly capable.
