The jist of many of these accounts is that the US made a treaty with the Greys wherein they "burrowed" a "few" humans every year, would inform the US who they took, where, and would return them unharmed in exchange for a (military) technology boost.
Within just a few years it was obvious that the Greys were taking THOUSANDS of people, not telling the US government, and most were never seen again. SOME were returned unharmed, while others were discarded half dissected like trash.
The Greys expected the US to abide by our end of the "treaty" while obviously violating their end of it almost constantly.
Also, the military tech they delivered was barely a few decades ahead of what we already had, and didn't confer a massive military advantage over our enemies.
Another thing these insiders have said is that the "Nordic" aliens offered to open relations with ALL countries, but refused to give any technology, so the US told them to fuck off.
