We are talking about age / disease etc. immortality, not bullet proof, planet crashing, nuclear devastation immunity. While yes, non-immortal lifes would clearly be of disposable worth to those few chosen, for whom life would bear a whole different dimension of worth.
In an utopian world, it does sound extremely romantic to arrange yourself a funeral after one thousand years of living - it would probably be a great holy day as well~
