It says so in the Talmud, and they were the ones who called for Jesus' crucifixion.

And if you just associate certain saints, angels, patron-saints, etc. with certain concepts, similar to how there's a pagan god for certain concepts, then they wouldn't be much different after all.
You pray to the saint or angel of X to intercede with God and grant your wish so you can receive X.
