The functional puritan communities of early America aggressively involved themselves in the lives of young men who were falling off the straight and narrow for whatever reason. Fatherlessness, or de facto, when the man wasn't up to the burden, was treated as a catastrophe. How many opportunities did this kid's circle have to reach them before every behaviour felt performative, felt as if the essential Them didn't exist, or that any facet of the their true self simply wasn't good enough? We don't really have communities anymore. We've gradually been quietly converted to Shakerism by the great Quaker-Calvinist death cult. No more potentially raising a damned soul. Just find your happy place, literally your inner light, produce Good Things to identify as a member of the elect, and gradually return to the earth and to God. A society of the old and dying from birth. Abomination. The Mormons will win the hyperwar. Their fecund madness will outlast. Eventually there will be a reckoning with these young people we've tossed aside. This one's identity couldn't be more defiant and vengeful, and this one's bold enough to act on their anger. Most aren't. It's there though. Everyone has a sniper within. Everyone will Be at some point, if only for a few moments.
