>>20442577I think you're right on this. I dont think the Gnostic texts should be taken at literal face value. I dont believe there is literally a lion snake flying around that was aborted from a cosmic space mommy and he uses his dark angels to specifically make your life miserable. The fundamental ideas all make sense and do tie in to other religions, just not Abrahamic ones. Gnosticism is essentially western Buddhism.
I also do not believe that the demiurge is completely evil. It's clear he is the god of the OT, but he also has his own Satan (Gnosticism says everything is dual natured like Buddhism/Hindu) that he is in an eternal battle against. He made the world with the best intentions but ultimately could not craft perfection because of its own imperfections.
