Desert climates become cold at night and in the winter months (even the gulf and the Sahara), Southern Europe is already a mild arid desert climate and Eastern Europe reaches extreme heat in the summer to make up for the extreme cold in Winter. The only place in Europe with the stereotypical mild temperate climate and fairest skin is Western Europe, and they managed to settle and colonise the most inhospitable places on earth for hundreds of years. Not hard to believe their ancestors would settle in the Middle East first, if they can also turn a forsaken continent like Australia into the most developed country in the world.
