I still knit during the summer, but I normally give that stuff away to a charity thrift shop in the city at the end of summer. It's mostly hats and mittens in classic patterns so I know they'll be able to sell them. Last year I did four hats and two pairs of mittens in the Selbu pattern. I'm not the only one doing this of course. There are usually half a dozen or so old ladies who do the same each year.
It's also nice to know that some less fortunate people can get the stuff I make for cheap before the cold sets in.
I can't stomach big projects during the summer, so sometimes I'll just knit cotton dishcloths or something simple like that.
