You have to rebind keys and redo some settings for Heretic, Hexen and Strife though. Not sure why.
>>21577643Halo has a GoG version which is the only version you should be downloading. Much much less likely to have any kind of bad things bundled into it and it's a click-and-go type of install.
If you can wait the Anniversary Edition on Steam goes for like, $10 every other month and it's very much worth the price.
