I guess 4chan has kind of turned into something bigger than moot thought it would or could be ever be, and seeing the potential and plausible consequences of that, he gave the keys to someone else and jumped ship
4chan's no longer a little niche community. It took almost 9 years for this site to reach 1 billion posts, but in the subsequent five years (not even quite actually) there have been more than 1.5 billion posts on the site. It must have been stressful knowing that everyone on the site knows his face and who he is but he has no idea really who anyone on the site is, and neither does anyone else of course. So in a way, he was really the only known entity associated with the website.
