Film school helps if you want to enter as a director (usually commercials and music videos). Its a good networking system.
At some point it just becomes about convincing Berg moneybags to invest into your indie production, then if it proves profitable they will feed you bigger and bigger opportunities until you fuck up.
But like I said - I am on production side, fighting deadlines and eliminating labor costs by being clever.
