As with all their methods it's about symbolism, and making the population unwillingly and unknowingly manifest it. Manifestations only work through your subconscious mind as the subconscious mind is the gateway between the soul and the conscious mind. Only those who are skilled can willingly access their subconscious mind through means like meditation and dreams. But for regular people it can be achieve though heightened states of emotions like euphoria, anger, pain and probably others too. "Cute goth girls" brings forth one or several of these emotions in some men, you just have to figure out the symbolism an you have you answer, I'm sure you can figure something out.
Once you know this basic principle of symbolism and manifestation you can start applying it to everything and then putting the pieces together. Your world view will never be the same again
