>>21970375Dumb thread, but it's something I only found out about quite recently when I did some reading, but in the early centuries of Christianity, when paganism still was viewed as a threat, the old gods were viewed as real. They were not 'fake and gay' but very real, and essentially demons that were cowed by the victory of Christ. The growth of the Christian faith in the 4th century was viewed as a triumphal march crushing the force of demons in the world in the role of the old gods.
