>>22356989this is a simpleton's view of art. a true artist is a true artist. artists are born and not made, though a highly proficient technical craftsman can be made. their output doesn't matter, they're a reflection of their inherited cultural soul, and they exist on such an edge that they usually do not even understand the why behind what they produce. the church, which was corrupt and degenerate then and did not sufficiently police art, since you have god the father painted on the fucking roof and bare breasted mythological demons literally everywhere. the roman-italian cultural soul was always directed toward order and technical skill, which is why it produced the renaissance artists when the pot was sufficiently boiled. and our great and true artists, regardless of what they make, make in the same way: directed toward self-expression and ego, which are our dominant traits. there are probably a handful or true and supreme artists in history who can remain true while working self consciously- shakespeare, homer, da vinci are some. everyone else is a fraud who works self consciously. the people who disgust you are almost certainly not true artists and don't count.
