there were only certain people they were not allowed to intermarry with, it's not like the christian identity guys claim. otherwise, there is no limitation on who can observe the law. most of the people in the exodus were not descendents of jacob, they were greeks. it even says they were not israelites in the bible, the mixed multitude they are called. they are the ones who comitted the heresey of the golden calf.
to be fair the orthodox made up all of their own rules regarding conversion, which is a direct affront to God as it adds to the law and reverses the true intent. the oral torah is stupid because we are supposed to believe that the torah was lost until it was found in ezra/nehemiah, but there was somehow knowlege of the massively expanded oral torah which is based on the written one. how can you be ingornat of commandments yet know about their excruciating detail at the same time? impossible.
