Instead, profit maximising companies and airlines choose to do, what to your silly model, looks like a gigantic arc across the pacific ocean, drastically increasing their costs in total fuel consumption needed for the route. Despite this, they don't experience any severe increase in flight time, holding the same time needed to cover the same distance between two points in the 'northern hemisphere' (Imagine my shock, its magic!!!).
