The problem with Russia is assuming they have the right to have their own sphere of influence, while having nothing to attract others to it (unlike EU, USA, China). They were always just delaying the inevitable. The West doesn't need to do anything and it's just bakas being memed into thinking anyone owes Russia anything (because le balance). Russia is a mid tier power trying to blackmail the world into taking it seriously. This was never going to end well for them.
