well this is what i think. generally i'm pretty disillusioned with college and i'd say either go for something practical (which you think you won't hate and drop out) or don't go to college at all. but if it's free, definitely go for a language that you know you'll like and use.
yeah, it's great. after a few years on the 'chan you can generally pick up the difference between the stories that are exaggerated, the stories that ring true and the stories you wish were true but take with a grain of salt.
