There are 100 ships waiting almost every time to cross the canal, that's the norm. Waiting time is usually a week and a few days. There are not 200 ships waiting and the last time something like that happened was in 2014 when the expansion was in progress and the canal had to be closed for a few hours i believe.
Around 30 ships cross the canal every single day and around 30 are crossing today, the canal is not blocked, it hasn't stopped working and it has enough water to work properly. Hurricanes are dropping a shit ton of water on our lakes, so we won't run out of water any time soon.
There is a slightly higher demand to cross for some reason though, there are like 120 ships waiting to cross atm, probably because there are hurricanes and tropical storms hitting the Caribbean and the faster they cross, the safer they are.
