Social goods is can be described as the sense of belonging, cohesion, trust, purpose with others in your community. Few people who were raised in the atomized West know what they are missing when I describe social goods. Social institutions ranging from guilds to monarchies have long since been destroyed.
Social taboos are self-explanatory, and they refer specifically to the prohibition of vices according to the Catholic faith. Degeneracy glorifies vice, which harms the pursuit of happiness for oneself and others around you.
Degeneracy can be traced back to the theological battles of the 13th century Catholic Church around scholasticism, which weakened it to the point that by the 15th century Protestants we’re given space and eventually by the 18th century atheists were able to violently overthrow all social institutions in the name of the false god Liberty, destroying guilds, committing regicide, and atomizing all of France and Britain.
In all that degeneration/atomization came the technical/industrial revolution, whose material benefits far overshadowed at what social cost we have to pay for it. There were some hiccups (communism) but eventually the masses were brought on board and thus by the 19th century the cult of progress was born, which creates and endless cycle of further (social and moral) degeneracy in the name of technological progress.
