>>11692293Also don't fucking denigrate your kids interests. Honestly, even if it's fucking weird at times. Like, avoid them looking at porn at a young age of course. But my parents honestly never talked shit to me or made of my weeb shit. They mentioned to me it is weird but they never talked mad shit in other rooms or fucking called me a loser for it. My father especially understood it because some of the shows and stuff he had watched was of course weird to many people. Dark Crystal? That shit looked strange as hell but it's not like I could judge him for that.
Also, kids are imitators, not mirrors. Please accept when they start coming with their own ideas even if they're better than yours. If you have a problem and they end coming up with a way to fix it. Please don't let your first thought be immediately to them being a smartass. At the very least ask if they are trying to intentionally sound rude. Happened to so many kids when they were just trying to help.
Also a little acknowledgement goes a long away. Don't congratulate them for every fucking thing. But if they showed effort in something don't be afraid to do it. Alot of kids have issues because they showed hard for their parents because parents are their lights and they did not shine on them at all. How else did they become dark?
Another thing is to not swear. Please avoid swearing around kids at all times. Cut it out if you can. My mother and father both made it a big deal to me to not swear. I didn't understand the depth of the rule as a child but as I got older I saw it and understood. At 18, me and my mother were walking to the store one day and we saw these group of kids. Probably 8-13 range, all in a group walking past us. I started hear them cussing up a storm. At that point I began to reel a little bit. I wasn't horrified or anything but it didn't sit well with me whatsoever. I understood in that moment why my parents made that a big deal now. Thats all i got a child of stupid but caring parents.
