>>9784477There's much to attribute to the modern life of digital escapism and depression. In a world that has become so connected we can literally send a message across the world in seconds we have an addiction socially to those above us. We watch and infatuate reflecting on our own lives with desire. That desire fuels us to fail at attaining the very thing we wanted in the first place as it only opens the door to more desire. Rampant consumerism has created a social meritocracy dominated by only the upper ~10% of society hinging solely on the idea of brands=status which is in itself the heart of consumerism. These mentalities are not only selfish but isolationist. Every person is encouraged to reach for the stars but stay in their own lane. A contradiction at heart.
Our lifestyles of consume, attain and get fame have crumbled out from underneath all those but the most affluent and many are starting to see through the bread and pony show. This causes the depression to set in. The realization that society condones and almost rewards mild sociopathic behavior so long as it is of benefit to you is a stark contrast from what a lot of us are told.
All of these are just a few points to why modern depression is so rampant. A broken faith based system backed by the wolves and sheep that believe in it.
