>>12485911well to be fair japanese is pretty notorious for using loan words way more than it makes sense to. just off the top of my head the words class, drive, hotel, shirt, and table are usually said using loan words despite the fact that there are obviously japanese words for these everyday concepts. the ol' joke goes that you don't actually need to learn japanese to communicate with anyone, just how to do a japanese accent for english words. that being said anyone who assumes it's fruit over flute when it's already narrowed down for them is insane
i could see having one post for a word if it had a complex translation or some interesting context or something, but it's definitely hilarious to do for something with a simple 1:1 translation
