>>4746539T-34 was a rush job to get a 75mm gun to the front and it shows, though admittedly it was a far better rush job than the M3 Lee and an amazing tank for the conditions that spawned it. In spite of all the memes against the Sherman, each definitive model outclassed it in some way and the Soviets that used it agreed: either better armor (Jumbo's 100mm and 150mm for glacis and turret versus the T-34-85M's 60mm and 90mm for glacis and turret), or a better gun after its own 75 was discarded (M-51's 105 mm Modèle F1 versus the T-34-85M's 85mm D-5T), better quality control (T-34s could vary as much as 10mm in thickness depending on who and when they were constructed and weld jobs were all over the place) and better safety features (wet ammo storage, hatch placement that doesn't open up directly into the enemy's line of fire.) This shows in the Korean War and Arab-Israeli War where T-34s are cut to pieces by Shermans due to the limitations of their designs in spite of being upgraded until the end of the 60s, like the Sherman itself: the T-44 actually began life as an attempt at giving the T-34 a 100mm gun but became its own tank when it became clear that the T-34's turret ring couldn't accept the larger armament.
