This parliament was elected in 2020 when the idea of GD being "pro-Russian" was controversial at best, because they were still going out of their way to kiss up to the EU and any idea of them being "pro-Russia" was largely kept to speculation and popularity was fueled by the UNM's collapse and the opposition being a disorganized mess, hence, it was easy to paint anyone raising concerns about GD's ties to Russia as being a butthurt UNM supporter. Even under these situations, GD could not win half of the vote or the parliament.
